The concept of a school of the prophets is clearly seen in scripture. Samuel had a school of the prophets with some translations saying a "company of prophets" or "the sons of prophets." In 1 Samuel 19:18-24, Saul comes upon one of Samuel's school or company prophesying as Samuel was standing over them. Suddenly, the Spirit of God came upon the men with Saul and they also started prophesying as well as Saul started prophesying. This is the principle of the prophetic anointing being transferred to Saul's company by the transference of spirits, just by being in close proximity! This reveals the power and strength of this gift growing and magnifying as there are several together. In the New Testament we rarely see the solitary prophet as much as plural groups of them.

"Although it appears these companies or sons were young prophets, Easton's Bible Dictionary gives us more insight into the schools of prophets. Seen also with Elijah and Elisha in 1 and 2 Kings, Easton's tells us the schools of the prophets were "instituted for the purpose of training young men for the prophetical and priestly offices." The school of prophets can't make you a prophet but you likely are called to be one if you are drawn to that ministry and are intrigued by it. We can ALL prophesy but not ALL are equipping prophets, called to train others.

This school can help you:

  1. Hear and discern the voice of God;

  2. Be trained in knowing the MANY ways God speaks;

  3. Equip you in the realm of dreams and interpretation as well as visions,whether inner or open;

  4. Learn how to cling to and wage war over a word spoken for you;

  5. Glean how to elevate your spirit over your soul and flesh;

  6. Learn to grow in humility and peace as well as accuracy;

  7. Guard yourself that you may walk in prophetic integrity. i
